The company's history
1946 Baltona Sp. z o.o., a limited liability company, is incorporated. The privately-owned enterprise begins ship chandlery operations in sea ports which were damaged during the war.Baltona continues to expand its operating profile in the following years:
1955 Baltona launches exports to duty free zones. The Company enters the lucrative market of duty free trading.
1956 Baltona begins to supply diplomatic missions.
1958 The Company opens retail outlets in international trade fairs and exhibitions held in Poland. The offered goods are sold for hard currency.

1965 Baltona expands its operating profile and launches duty free outlets at border crossings.
1968 Hard currency is always in short supply on a centralised market, and Baltona launches "internal sailing exports", namely the sale of goods to Polish sailors for hard currency.

1971 In search of new markets, Baltona recognises that only the sky is the limit and launches catering services for PLL LOT flights.
1977 Baltona begins export operations with initial focus on "small markets" (including the Vatican and the Canary Islands).
1984 Baltona launches mail order services and presents its product offer in colour catalogues. This innovative concept proves to be a great success.
1984 Under the provisions of the pre-war Commercial Code, Baltona is transformed into a joint-stock company and is entered into the business register.
1985 Baltona continues to expand the chain of retail outlets operating both under the Baltona logo and on a franchise basis. At the height of its popularity, Baltona operated nearly 250 stores.
1995-2000 Revolutionary political and economic changes have an adverse impact on the Company which employed nearly 2000 persons at the time. A massive restructuring scheme brought the anticipated results – Baltona has reported positive results for many years.
2004 – 2006 Restructuring scheme in Baltona
2006 Baltona celebrates its 60th anniversary
2007 Dynamic development of qualitative and quantitative, with particular emphasis on regional airports
2010 Changes in shareholding structure and restructuring the Company, start of international expansion.
